Let's try this again...

Well, the wheels on the bus still go 'round!  Finally we are moving again, not far but moving.  We have pulled up roots on our property in Tennessee and moved to Dalton, Ga. city, the house was in the country.  We are now officially back to fulltiming and we are staying at the Dalton Elks Club.  We have lived here 27 years and didn't know there was rv parking here, they have 6 spots with water and electric and it's flat and private we're the only ones here.  The club is very nice and it also has a huge swimming pool for members.   I have never lived in the city  before so everything is real close by, in fact Jerry can come home for lunch it only takes him about 7 minutes.  He loves it, I'll never get to leave now!  At least I have something to blog about, I could blog about going to the grocery store or the laundry but most of you know how exciting that is.  Well until something exciting happens I guess a monthly blog will work.  Happy Trails!

Moving on up

Oct-Nov 2010 003

Well we signed a contract on the house on Friday, so we’ re  moving out of here  August 1.  This seems so surreal.  I had almost giving up on getting rid of the house, at least for several years, but the folks getting it really love it and can hardly wait for us to get out.  They want all the furnishings so all we have to move is our clothes and a few dishes…..talk about luck.  We feel really lucky to be able to get out of here since the housing market is so bad here.   It is not the kind of deal we had hoped for but it is one we can work with and the family getting it is so excited.   You have to do what you can in this market and that sometimes means being flexible and creative.  Now if I can get hubby to stop working so we can get back out there everything will be okee dokey.  Hope to see you all on the road again soon and maybe I’ll have something to blog about.   It sure is hard to blog about nothing!

Time flies when....

Time flies when............................
The grandkids visit it really flies and it's a little hectic at times, but when they leave it get's so quite you really don't know what to do.  Well, I've been so busy for the last 6 months  now I'm done and time is NOT flying anymore...why?
Time flies when............................
When we were on the road for 18 months we never ever had enough time.  I was looking back at some of our pictures and I just couldn't believe we had  done so much in that length of time.  I had to laugh out loud at some of the fun stuff and people we have meet along the way as I browsed through some of them....

The model (what's her secret)                    The dinner crowd
The rollor coaster gang

  ???                                            Christmas with friends
Wow, see time does fly when your having fun, but not so much when you are not, in fact it has slowed down to a crawl.  What was the name of that song by Carly Simon...".Anticipation", thats it!!!!!  I'm anticipating           getting back on the road sooooooon.   "honey, where's the hitch itch cream?"

Gone Fishing

We decided to take a little time off from work and house chores so we went up to our little spot in Tn. for the Memorial Day holiday.  The grandbabies came in from Tx for the week-end and we had a blast chasing them around and cooking out.

The boys decided they wanted to go fishing so Dad and Mom took them out in the boat to catch a big one.
Well the big one never showed up but, the boys jumped in and swam around looking for  "the big one"!  After some cooling off it was back to some serious fishing.

As you guessed the big one got away, (actually I think he probably swam to the other end of the lake) but the little ones didn't mind because they got to pick up worms with Papa and do all those things little boys do like throwing rocks in the water and getting muddy!!  Awww the joys of  summer.

Almost done

After about 4 months of remodeling we are close to being done.  Now what?  The waiting is going to be awful.  I've stayed very busy with all this but, I don't sit still very well.  I've already got hitch itch and it's getting worse by the day.  You know you always say things like I'm not going to do that again but, as much as I don't like the renting thing it may be our only option out of here.  We will see what happens.

Painting the kitchen cabinets was a big project!  The cabinets were oak stained a dark color and I wanted to lighten them up so we painted them a off white and put a faux finish on them.  They turned out good and I sure am glad we are done with that (I'm not going to do that again).  I really didn't want to redo them myself and I got a estimate from a guy  that refinishes cabintes and his quote was $4000. after I got up off the floor I decided I can do this and for $300. I'm happy with it.

Staying busy

We don't have any exciting pictures or any updates on the places we've been, because the motorhome hasn't moved in 2 months, but there are plenty of things to do.  Jerry has a full time job again, oh joy, so that leaves me with trying to get the house back in good shape.  So far I have painted 3 rooms and had the wood floors redone so things are beginning to look a little better.  We have moved back in the house which means we had to re-buy furniture so we are just getting the basics things.  The housing market here is still pretty bad in fact Ga is the 3rd worse place in the nation for jobs and housing...when will this all end???  It is kind of funny but, after we bought the motorhome in '08 I made the comment that I sure hope we don't have to sit and just look at the motorhome because we can't sell the house....guess what!
Oh well, good things will come to those who wait, so we wait , in the mean time I have started painting my cabinets all 35 doors, ugh!

After the holidays

Well it’s been awhile since I got around to posting, but after leaving Colorado in October we headed to Texas to spend some time with the grandbabies.

We have had a wonderful time bonding with the little guys, although they can be a handful (4 and 2) whew!!   We have been in our daughters backyard for about 2 1/2 months which has made it very convenient for the boys to come and visit, like every morning by 8:00 AM.  Now Nana and Papa have been use to snoozing until say at least 9:00 and taking a nap around 2:00 ish in the afternoon, but they were having none of that.DSC01138grandbabies 019DSC01164

We have been to the beach, celebrated Halloween and finally Christmas, so after all the fun we had to leave on the 27th after Christmas.

Our original plans was to spend the winter in south Texas, but we all seem to have hit a speed bump this year and we are no exception, so we are back at our house in Georgia for awhile.  Unfortunately our renters moved out before their lease was up so we had to come back  and  take care of stuff so we will probably stay here until we can get this house sold.  Jerry has been offered a JOB so he will be working while I try to get rid of the monkey on our backs.  Guess we will pull a Steve and Carol and stay in the motorhome in the driveway since we got rid of all the furniture!

Oh well, we will be envious of all you guys out in the desert riding your quads, soaking up the sun,and having happy hours, but maybe the new year will be better and the economy will improve and we can sell this house quickly and bring our toys and come back and play again.

Happy New Year!
